SAD NEWS:  Formula 1 Management suspended Max Verstappen and Lando Norris…

Formula One has a long history of suspending drivers for various infractions, ranging from on-track misconduct to off-track controversies. These suspensions are often a result of serious breaches of the sport’s code of conduct or regulations, and they can have significant consequences for both the drivers and their teams.

One notable example is the suspension of Michael Schumacher in 1994. Schumacher was penalized for dangerous driving in the British Grand Prix, where he collided with Damon Hill. The FIA suspended him for two races as a result of this incident.

Another infamous suspension occurred in 2009 when Renault’s Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds were found guilty of orchestrating Nelson Piquet Jr. to crash deliberately during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. Briatore received an indefinite ban from all FIA-sanctioned events, while Symonds was banned for five years.

More recently, in 2020, Racing Point’s Sergio Perez was forced to miss two races after testing positive for COVID-19. Similarly, in 2021, Lewis Hamilton missed the Sakhir Grand Prix after testing positive for the virus.

These suspensions highlight the importance of accountability and safety in Formula One. Whether due to on-track incidents, breaches of sporting integrity, or health concerns, the sport’s governing bodies take swift action to maintain fairness and uphold standards of conduct among drivers and teams.
