The Indianapolis Colts finished up their mandatory minicamp with some roster moves.

The team announced that they waived C Jack Anderson and placed S Daniel Scott on the IR. And they replaced them with rookies CB Clay Fields III and WR Derek Slywka.

Fields III spent time with the Colts during their 2024 rookie and veteran minicamps earlier this offseason. He began his college career at Marist in 2018 and was a two year starter before transferring to Chattanooga for the 2023 season.

In 2021, he was named an All American at Marist as a safety and recorded five interceptions. And was named to the 1st Team All-PFL in 2021 and 2022. Last season at Chattanooga, he recorded 39 total tackles and one interception.

He now joins the Colts with experience playing as both a safety and a corner. Both of which are expected to have multiple roster spots up for grabs, and the team is preparing for competitive battles at both spots.

Slywka spent rookie minicamp this offseason with the San Francisco 49ers but was with the Colts on a tryout basis during their veteran minicamp. The Colts have listed Slywka as a WR, but he was a defensive back in college and worked as a safety with the 49ers.

He has solid size at WR, with him being listed at 6’3 and 215 lbs last season. He had a knack for being around the ball in college as a safety, ending his career with 119 total tackles, 11 interceptions, 30 pass deflections, and four blocked field goals. The Colts will now look to utilize that skill at WR. His ability as a special teamer is likely where they are most intrigued by him.
