Anthony Lamb was accused of rape in a civil lawsuit filed against the University of Vermont by three former students, who allege the school showed “deliberate indifference to sexual harassment and assault among students.” Lamb is not a defendant in the lawsuit.

On the matter, the Warriorsissued the following statement: “Anthony is not a defendant in this recent lawsuit and, to our knowledge, has never been charged with any wrongdoing in any legal case.Prior to signing Anthony in September, we did our due diligence with the NBA and his former teams, as we do with all players. If any new information comes to light, we will certainly evaluate it and act accordingly.”

Warriors general manager Bob Myers said, “We checked with the NBA, we checked with the two teams that had previously signed him and we didn’t hear anything in terms of official accusations or anything like that,” Myers said. “It’s tough because we take it very seriously.”

In the lawsuit against the University, former University swimmer Kendall Ware alleges she was raped by Lamb at an off-campus party. The former student also reported two other Lamb-related incidents at the school, but says the institution didn’t actually do anything

I was continually misinformed and I really don’t think the athletic department wanted me to do the formal investigation because he would have been found responsible,” Ware said Oct. 3. “I was 19 years old. It’s not something you expect to navigate at that age, especially when the people who are supposed to protect you and have your best interests at heart are not doing that and are giving you the wrong information over and over again.”
