It’s not uncommon in the world of sports for dedicated fans to call for changes in leadership if their team is performing poorly.

St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol is in the hot seat among the St. Louis fan-base with many calling for his firing. Those messages were loud and clear on the Busch Stadium message board and a fan’s sign broadcasted on TV over the weekend.

It’s not uncommon in the world of sports for dedicated fans to call for changes in leadership if their team is performing poorly.

From baseball to football to hockey and basketball, if the manager or head coach isn’t living up to fan expectations or fan approval they’ll want him or her out and someone else in to take over.

Right now, out of the four major sports that are, the one person the fans want to be fired more than anyone would be St. Louis Cardinals manager Oli Marmol. Fans have been calling for the leader of the 11-time World Series champions across talk shows and social media, and now those voices are making their way into the team’s home ballpark Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals had a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox May 17-19 and twice messages went viral for the way they were broadcasted.

In a post on X May 17, user @VanHicklestein posted a photo of the message board at Busch Stadium (like many other ballparks) that fans can send messages to wishing, “Happy Birthday,” “Happy Anniversary,” or even for that poor guy Mark in Milwaukee that was locked into the “friend zone.” But on the Busch Stadium message board over the weekend, there was a double message.

The board read: “Happy 10th B-Day Bethany.” With a line beneath it that read: “Please Fire Marmol.”

Well, Marmol didn’t get fired because as of this moment, he’s still the Cardinals’ manager. But FanSided, who first reported about the post, points out someone more than likely could face disciplinary action for not vetting the message before it went out for all of the ballparks to see. And this isn’t the first time a non-vetted message went out at Busch Stadium.

“Whomever did this doesn’t even know someone named Bethany. Yet, I applaud them,” Bennie (@DenverBennie) commented on the post.

“I love it! Does someone have a Birthday soon? Please Fire Mozeliak’s message would be great,” Craig Longo (@stlwxalert) added.

John Mozeliak, the Cardinals president of baseball operations, also has dealt with demands from fans calling for his termination.
