Mike McDaniel Reveals His Thoughts On Tua Tagovailoa’s Contract Situation

The Miami Dolphins have a decision to make regarding their quarterback, and so does Tua Tagovailoa.

There hasn’t been much traction regarding a potential deal, and with training camp and the preseason just around the corner, he might decide to take matters into his own hands.

Tagovailoa could decide to hold out until he gets a new deal, particularly knowing that he’s struggled to stay healthy for most of his career and that everything could go south in the blink of an eye.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, also need to figure out whether he’s their guy for the future and, should that be the case, get him paid.

Mike McDaniel, however, will stay in his lane.

Talking to the Miami Herald, the head coach claimed that as much as he understood the business side of the game, his job was to make sure Tagovailoa developed his game (via FinsXtra).

Simply put, McDaniel doesn’t want to talk about things that might be above his pay rate.

Truth be told, Tagovailoa hasn’t shown that he’s deserving of top-dollar just yet.

Then again, that’s just the price to pay in today’s NFL to have a franchise quarterback, and that’s not on him; that’s just the state of the market.

Moreover, he’s also — by far — the best choice they have, and their offense has been one of the best in the league over the past couple of years.
